MAURITIUS EXTENSION
MAURITIUS EXTENSION
Mauritius is considered a great getaway for jetsetters, celebrities, and royalty from around the world. It has virgin-white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, chic hotels, and excellent service.
We highly recommend this 3 night / 4-day extension at the end of any Southern Africa visit. It is a perfect way to unwind your experience before returning home, wherever that may be.
THE PROGRAM
Board your flight from Johannesburg, South Africa to Mauritius. Meet and transfer to your hotel.
Located off the eastern coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean, the idyllic island of Mauritius is a remarkably romantic holiday destination. Renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, gorgeous white sand beaches and a wonderful tropical climate, most visitors spend their days relaxing on beaches or in one of the many luxurious holiday resorts fringing them, but there is much more to this little island than cocktails and coconuts. Those who venture inland will discover lush, jungle-clad mountains, glistening blue lagoons, impressive rivers and waterfalls, extinct volcanic craters, charming towns and villages, and friendly locals.
Once a sleepy little fishing village, Grand Baie (Grand Bay) has developed into a thriving tourist town on the north coast of the island of Mauritius. This popular resort serves as a convenient base for travelers exploring the rest of the island with an array of luxury hotels on offer as well as several designer boutiques, fine restaurants, beach bars and nightclubs. Aside from relaxing on the exquisite white-sand beaches that fringe the crescent-shaped bay, visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including swimming, scuba diving, sailing, water-skiing, deep sea fishing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, parasailing and even submarine excursions to discover the spectacular range of marine animals that inhabit the crystal-clear waters surrounding the bay.
Adrift in the Indian Ocean to the east of Madagascar, Mauritius is known for its dizzying beauty and tranquil isolation, both of which inspired the island’s oceanfront Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury. Sheltered on the northwestern coast amidst lush gardens, the property is laid out so that all the suites face the lagoon, where guests enjoy complimentary water sports. Its pristine stretch of beach is as sparkling white as the uniforms of staff who know guests by name and can organize everything from a table at the gastronomic restaurant, La Goelette, to helicopter tours of the island. While the resort’s acclaimed spa, amenities and activities are decidedly 21st-century, the views of the crystalline sea and the palm-lined coast could be plucked straight out of an 18th-century novel.
